Linking Films On Demand into D2L
Linking a video from Films On Demand (FOD) right into the content of your class D2L page is easy! Students are able to watch or re-watch films for class right at home.
Keep in mind that even though students are logged into D2L, they will still be required to use their library login to access Films On Demand. Questions about library login access can be emailed to Library@flemingcollege.ca
Follow the steps below to embed a FOD video into a new or existing D2L page:
1. Find the video you’d like to embed in the FOD database. (Forget how to access Films On Demand? Check out our video streaming Libguide)
2. Below the FOD video player, click the "Share" icon

3. Select the "Link/Embed" tab. You can then copy the link to the entire film, or choose just a segment.

4. Now open your D2L Course Page and select the module you would like the link to appear
5. Inside the content module, select “New” and choose “Create a link”

6. Give your video link a title and paste the URL

7. Select "Create"! Your video link should now appear in D2L
Embedding Video Links from Curio into D2L
Linking videos from Cuio into D2L can be done in a few easy steps and allows students to watch or re-watch a film assigned in class, right from home!
Follow the steps below to embed a Curio video in to a new or existing D2L page:
1. Find the video you'd like to embed on the Curio website. (Forget how to access Curio? Check out our video streaming libguide)
2. Below the video player, click the "share" link
3. Select and copy permalink url

4. Now open your D2L Course Page and select the module you would like the video to appear.
5. Inside the content module, select "New and "Create a Link"

6. Add a title and paste the Curio link into the URL text box, then hit "create".

7. You've now created a link to your Curio video that students can access!
Embedding Video Links from Kanopy into D2L
Linking videos from Kanopy is a great way to assign films to your students who can watch or re-watch videos from home, and requires a just a few quick steps!
1. Locate the video you’d like to link from in the Kanopy database. (Forget how to access Kanopy? Check out our video streaming Libguide.
2. Below the Kanopy video player, click the “share/embed” link.

3. Select and copy the Share Link

4. Now open your D2L Course Page and select the module you would like the video to appear
5. Inside the content module, select “New” and “Create a Link"

6. Add a title and paste the link into the URL text box, then select “create”.

7. You’ve now created a link to a Kanopy video your students can access!
Did you know that YouTube generates automatic captions for videos you upload? While the tech is impressive, it's far from perfect!
Always remember to edit your auto-captions to increase clarity, improve viewers’ comprehension, and provide equitable access. The handout below provides instructions for editing.
