Books can be read online through your internet browser or downloaded to your computer, mobile device, or eReader.

You can search for and download eBooks on our database.

Viewing eBooks online

Each database that includes eBooks has its own interface to read the eBooks online. Help pages for these interfaces can be found at the following links:

Printing eBooks

Up to 60 pages of an eBook (may vary dependent on the individual publisher-specified limits) can be printed or saved per user as a PDF file from within the eBook Full Text viewer.

  • To print (or save) eBooks pages as a PDF:
    • 1. Open the eBook in the eBook Full Text viewer.
    • 2. Go to the first page of the section of pages you would like to print and click the Print icon in the right column and the Print PDF menu is displayed.
    • 3. Select to print:
      • Current Page: Print only the page you are viewing.
      • Current Page and the next XX pages: Enter the number of pages (up to 60) in the field provided.
      • This Section: Select to print the entire section of the eBook. (If available to select)
    • 4. Select:
      • Print PDF: To send the selected pages to your printer.
      • Send as an E-mail: To e-mail the selected pages as a PDF file to yourself.

Downloading eBooks

Downloading a book to your own computer, allows you (depending on the program you use) to record notes, highlight text and place bookmarks in the digital book for reference.

Things to know:

  • The book is downloaded as a digital copy to your device and it will remain available for the duration of the checkout period.
  • At the end of the checkout period the book will no longer be able to be opened or viewed on your device, unless it is rechecked out and downloaded again.

How to download:

  • Start by creating your own EBSCOhost folder (top right of search page).
  • Download and install Adobe Digital Editions to your computer or Android device.
  • Create an Adobe ID and be sure to remember the email and password associated with your Adobe ID.
  • Find the ebook you want to download in one of the library's online databases and select the "Download(Offline)" link below the title and subject headings.
  • You will be prompted to download a file, URLLink.acsm, which should open automatically in Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions will then complete the download of your ebook.
  • Some mobile devices require additional instructions. We have included Instructions for Apple and Kobo products are listed below.

Kobo Devices

Download and install Adobe Digital Editions to your computer. Be sure to remember the email and password associated with your Adobe ID.

  • Find the ebook you want to download in one of the library's online databases and select the "Download(Offline)" link below the title and subject headings.
  • You will be prompted to download a file, URLLink.acsm, which should open automatically in Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions will then complete the download of your ebook.
  • Install the free Kobo desktop software using the same email address and password you used for Adobe Digital Editions.
  • Connect your Kobo to your computer and open Adobe Digital Editions. Digital Editions will recognize your Kobo. It will appear as an icon in Library view on the left. Drag your ebook from the main Library window to the Kobo icon. A window may appear showing the progress of the copying process.
  • Eject your Kobo from your computer and then unplug it. After your Kobo reloads, your ebook will be available in your Kobo Library.

Apple Devices

  • Install the Bluefire Reader to your Apple device from the App Store.
  • Go to Adobe.com and create an Adobe ID by clicking on Sign In and creating a new account.
  • You will then need to authorize your Bluefire Reader on your Apple device. Simply open the app and enter your Adobe ID.
  • Find the ebook you want to download in one of the library's online databases and select the "Download(Offline)" link below the title and subject headings.
  • You may be requested to login to your EBSCOHost account at this time. Simply login using your EBSCOHost login or by creating a new account.
  • A screen will appear showing a Bluefire icon, simply tap on the button "Open in Bluefire Reader".
  • This will download your book and open it in the Bluefire reader.
