Downloading eBooks

Downloading a book to your own computer, allows you (depending on the program you use) to record notes, highlight text and place bookmarks in the digital book for reference.

Things to know:

  • The book is downloaded as a digital copy to your device and it will remain available for the duration of the checkout period.
  • At the end of the checkout period the book will no longer be able to be opened or viewed on your device, unless it is rechecked out and downloaded again.

How to download:

  • Start by creating your own EBSCOhost folder (top right of search page).
  • Download and install Adobe Digital Editions to your computer or Android device.
  • Create an Adobe ID and be sure to remember the email and password associated with your Adobe ID.
  • Find the ebook you want to download in one of the library's online databases and select the "Download(Offline)" link below the title and subject headings.
  • You will be prompted to download a file, URLLink.acsm, which should open automatically in Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions will then complete the download of your ebook.
  • Some mobile devices require additional instructions. We have included Instructions for Apple and Kobo products are listed below.
